It all began innocently enough...borrowed an RV for a vacation that was "different" than we had before, and turned into our absolute love for RVing! So, maybe you don't own an RV or have never had any kind of interesting "glamping" desire, but keep with me here. I have come up with some small space - like an RV, too - organizing and storage hacks from our brief six months of owning our own RV. I think that these will definitely help you think outside the box. And, if you have a friend who RVs or you are thinking about it in the future, pin this post and pass it on! Here are my hacks for getting the most use of a small space in your {home or} RV.

Our New Other "Home"
A few weeks ago I told you that we poured a concrete pad in our backyard where the kids had their playset. We have been planning on purchasing our own RV since we were able to use my husband's sister's RV when they moved across the country recently. It was a great chance to see if we would really like to have one. And after using it for six months, we decided we definitely wanted one for ourselves!

The BEST RV {and Camping} Organizing Products
Last year, when we bought our used RV, we planned on using it for multiple family get aways - and we have! We go away as many holiday weekends as we can, and we love every minute of RVing. We just got back from a wonderful trip this past weekend and I wanted to share some of the best products that we use while we're RVing. Many of these products are also great for camping, as well. So, be sure to share this with your camping friends! If you want to see more good stuff that we do while RVing, go to my Instagram #OMFRVmakeover hashtag and you'll get to see all kinds of fun stuff I post about it.

Another Amazing RV Update in the Master Bedroom!
If you've been following my RV updates, this one will be a fun one! If you remember, we purchased the used RV back in January and we use it as a guest house in our backyard as well as our main way to vacation as a family! So, decorating it is important to me since it's like a big guest room! The "master bedroom" is the main place our guests stay and where my husband and I sleep when we all vacation. The wallpaper in our RV is pretty reminiscent of the standard "ugly" stuff that goes in there. But, it's everywhere and hard to cover up...I've got plans in the future to cover the rest of it up but I what I really wanted was a feature wall. Something you can see from the front of the RV when you walked it that was welcoming and fun and still gave off a brilliant, beach-colored vibe! Here is before:

Small Space Organizing - RV storage
We recently were given the privilege of getting an RV to "babysit" {or RV-sit} for a few years. Yes, you heard that right! It's a bit of a story, but basically a family member moved far away and didn't want to take the RV with them so they asked us if we could watch it for a year or two until they decide if and when they wanted to make the long hall with it to their far away place. So, of course, we said "SURE!". And so I had the opportunity to organize this small space - and let me tell you, it's fun! I found all kinds of ways to maximize the small space of the RV and store a lot more than expected. {Click "Read More" below the picture to find out lots of GREAT ways I found to organize in small spaces}.

Tiling the Kitchen - an RV update
If you haven't figured it out by now, I love a good project. Our "new to us" RV has been a lot of fun for me and it's brought up a lot of ways for me to really get creative. Why in the world would I take a perfectly nice looking RV and make all these changes? Well, we are using our RV for more than just our vacations - it's become our guest house now, too. So, the first thing I worked on was the kitchen!
Here is what the kitchen looked like when we bought the RV just a couple of months ago. It's perfectly nice and simple. There isn't anything wrong with it - I just don't care for the splotchy "sponge paint" wallpaper and border wallpaper look. And, here is what it looks like now.

A "New" Bathroom in the Small Space
We had a bunch of company stay with us a few weeks ago. Annually we house pastors from around the country at our home to stay while they attend a local conference. This year we had 9 pastors stay with us. We even borrowed another RV/motorhome from my sister in law and housed some more of them so they'd be comfortable. We kept them all over the house and outside in the motorhomes. We want them to be comfortable. We had another visitor stay overnight with us right after they left, too. It was a blessing to have the motorhome as a guest house for each visitor. My goal has been to make it feel less like an RV and more like a small cottage. So, I showed you the little kitchen update I did last week and today I'm showing you another new small space update - the bathroom!

Time for RV Debrassification
Updating our RV is a continuous journey. We bought our used RV about 9 months ago now. Let me interject here and just say we have LOVED the whole experience of RVing. And, we have never had so many little vacations! We travel about every 4-6 weeks to some campground and it has been a big de-stresser for us - especially my husband and I. Most campgrounds have little to no internet or cell capabilities - and that's GOOD! It has caused us to put down the technology and just relaxed and enjoy one another. Now, let me talk about something else I love - organizing and decorating - and in this case, debrassification. Yes, that's my word and I made it up but I bet you know what it means!
And...I'm going to share how I changed the shower doors from brass to oil rubbed bronze!

Disguising a Big, Ugly Object in Our Yard - the RV Journey
While I'm thrilled we bought a "new to us" RV motorhome a couple of months ago, it's easy to get tired of looking at this ginormous beast that's sitting in our backyard and realize that it's just ugly! I'm planning lots of DIY on the INSIDE of the motorhome, but first I wanted to do a bit of camouflaging of the beast on the outside. What do I mean?

Summer Tour of Homes {Organized} 2015
Welcome, if you are new here!
Today I have the privilege of joining a whole lot of amazing bloggers for home tours of all our homes - and you may have just come from seeing Donna of Funky Junk Interiors, who has such an amazing way of making rust look beautiful, and a big thank you to Gina of The Shabby Creek Cottage for hosting this awesome summer home tour.
I'd like to say that I feel that I have really created a home that is truly my style, after living in this home for nine years. I hope you enjoy my colorful, slightly "modern with a vintage twist" decor. I'm not afraid of colors or patterns. Our home was built in 1947 and I love the character, the built-ins, the closets, and all the vintage that comes from having a home from that era. Hopefully you'll also gain some ideas for an organized home too!
I want to start with the front of my home and welcome you to our beautiful, Southern California yard - all native plants, drought tolerant {we're really into green living here, if you are new here}.

Homeowner Woes!
Well, as much as I absolutely LOVE living in an older home, it DOES come with some problems from time to time. We got to experience that recently. I thought I'd share this with you as we are getting ready to make some changes and I hope to blog more about the DIY and updates on that, too.
We are hoping to purchase a used RV this year. In anticipation of this, we are putting in an RV "parking area" in our backyard. We have the perfect spot - the kids play area. Now that the kids are older, they aren't using that anymore. So, we decided that this would make a great place to park our future RV.

This Year's Organizing Goals
I definitely have some organizing goals for this year. I don't resolve to be organized each year - I mostly have that, but I DO need to re-organize areas in and around my home so they work better for my lifestyle changes. This year marks five years of blogging for me - so much has changed in this past five years...
