Summer Tour of Homes {Organized} 2015

Welcome, if you are new here!

Today I have the privilege of joining a whole lot of amazing bloggers for home tours of all our homes - and you may have just come from seeing Donna of Funky Junk Interiorswho has such an amazing way of making rust look beautiful, and a big thank you to Gina of The Shabby Creek Cottage for hosting this awesome summer home tour.

I'd like to say that I feel that I have really created a home that is truly my style, after living in this home for nine years. I hope you enjoy my colorful,  slightly "modern with a vintage twist" decor. I'm not afraid of colors or patterns. Our home was built in 1947 and I love the character, the built-ins, the closets, and all the vintage that comes from having a home from that era. Hopefully you'll also gain some ideas for an organized home too!

I want to start with the front of my home and welcome you to our beautiful, Southern California yard - all native plants, drought tolerant {we're really into green living here, if you are new here}.

I took a big risk and painted the house BLUE with our fun and happy yellow front door a few years ago. Thankfully we live in a neighborhood that you can pretty much paint your house any color you want. We're going to head straight to the backyard...since that's where most of our friends and visitors spend their time when they come over. And we have people over a LOT!

Out back is our wonderful patio. My husband spent years {literally} building it

I recently updated our back patio so the couches are covered in navy along with the red and white accents to go along with the blue house paint and red back doors. This is probably where our visitors spend most of their time is on this deck. And, here in Southern California, we can be out here 11 months out of the year {or more}. I use this old dresser as an outdoor, rolling buffet. It works great and rolls wherever we need it.

In the far back of our backyard is a tiny little house - the playhouse. It's darling and we actually bought it on Ebay about 8 years ago.

We even managed to fit our RV in our backyard and make it look pretty - and if you want to see what I've done to improve the inside of our RV {which doubles as our guest house}, feel free to check it out. You might be amazed!

I made the RV bathroom look amazing with simple plastic tiles. Last outside is our garage and attached shed.

If you couldn't tell, I like an organized garage. But, this is what it looks like on a good day! I wish it looked this way everyday!

The scooter organizer is not only functional but easy to build!

Our kitchen is old, but I've made it function well! My pantry is my favorite part! I've turned it into a beautiful and functional little room.

Our family room was truly a labor of love - and a lot of paint! We spend a lot of time in this room. As you can see, above, it was quite a bit different before it was painted.

Small home office with a pop of customized {removable} wallpaper :: OrganizingMadeFun.com

My office is my newest DIY project. It is truly one of my favorite places to be now.

Vintage 1970s office chair with original yellow vinyl looks amazing in this modern home office :: OrganizingMadeFun.com

Everything looks bigger, even though this is a tiny space. I love pattern and color - and mixing with this vintage chair {with it's original yellow vinyl and was FREE} was just what the office needed. It makes spending so many hours in there so much easier!

The last room I'd like to show you is our master bedroom.

One of my favorite {and easy} organizing projects was my necklace organizer, while putting all my jewelry on display.

Decals pattern the master bedroom wall :: OrganizingMadeFun.com

This isn't wallpaper. It's a decal that I rubbed over the wall. It's super easy to remove, if I ever choose to do so, and adds a great pop of pattern behind the bed.

I updated the vintage vanity, also. It completes the look in our small master bedroom.

I hope you've enjoyed our colorful home. If you'd like to see more of my home decor projects and get inspired to organize, sign up to be an email subscriber here. Thank you and please come again!

If you would like to get more organizing inspiration...head over to My Fabuless Life tomorrow morning at 6 AM EST for the rest of the tour.
