Family Room Update: Counter Intuitive
Last week, I share the family room update to our fireplace. Just using paint, it made a huge difference! This week, I did more updating in there. Years ago I painted all the built in cabinetry. The fireplace sits between cabinets built by someone back in the 60s. It's great having them, and I painted them white many years ago. But, the tops of them kept getting chipped up.

Family Room Update: Fireplace Makeover
Recently, I was looking at my family room and ready to do a few updates in there. We moved into our house over 11 years ago and it was one of the first rooms that I painted. So, I felt like it was time to do something our hideous fireplace. We fixed the fireplace about 6 or 7 years ago so that it could function. This room was turned into a Rumpus Room back in the 1960s, and later enclosed. So, the fireplace had a rotisserie in it - that I've since taken out, of course!

Outdoor Bar Cart Makeover
It mustn't be just me, because I see the bar cart is getting to be quite popular lately - like they were 40 or 50 years ago! I really wanted to find a bar cart, but wanted a vintage one that I could update and make over. We hunted all over the place, looking in thrift store after consignment store after antique store looking for something that would work. I found all kinds of bar carts - metal, plastic, big, small, short, tall. But, I had one in my mind and couldn't get that one out of my head!

The Kitchen is Done - the BIG Reveal!!!!
I have been given the opportunity, from MasterBrand Cabinets,
to join with them in our kitchen renovation, which includes the donations of
these unbelievable, quality cabinets.
I can't believe it, but the kitchen is DONE!! It is unbelievably beautiful. We've increased our counter space by three fold! It's truly the most functional kitchen I've ever had! Are you ready to see it? I hope so, because I'm going to flood you with beautiful photos!
Let me start with where our kitchen began, and you can go back to the beginning of our design process and demo process to see. We moved into our home in 2006, and this is what our kitchen looked like ten years ago, above left. Six years later, I have improved it as much as it could possibly be improved by painting the cabinets and putting new flooring in. But, it still lacked counter space, so I was using a hodge podge of things to add more counter space. The kitchen also felt very cramped! And now...

Kitchen Renovation Almost Done!
Being totally honest here, and I'm SURE I have many readers who've been through this, but renovation isn't for the faint of heart! This organized, clutter-free girl is knee deep in renovations and can't wait for it to be over! And, this is ONLY our kitchen, not a whole house reno! So, I'm going to share my journey today of how I've been dealing with living in a mess and keeping my sanity - well, most of the time.
If you're following me on Instagram, I've been using the hashtag #OMFnewkitchen with all kinds of up to date photos of what's going on. I wanted to give you an update on the midway through renovating

Another Amazing RV Update in the Master Bedroom!
If you've been following my RV updates, this one will be a fun one! If you remember, we purchased the used RV back in January and we use it as a guest house in our backyard as well as our main way to vacation as a family! So, decorating it is important to me since it's like a big guest room! The "master bedroom" is the main place our guests stay and where my husband and I sleep when we all vacation. The wallpaper in our RV is pretty reminiscent of the standard "ugly" stuff that goes in there. But, it's everywhere and hard to cover up...I've got plans in the future to cover the rest of it up but I what I really wanted was a feature wall. Something you can see from the front of the RV when you walked it that was welcoming and fun and still gave off a brilliant, beach-colored vibe! Here is before:

Time for RV Debrassification
Updating our RV is a continuous journey. We bought our used RV about 9 months ago now. Let me interject here and just say we have LOVED the whole experience of RVing. And, we have never had so many little vacations! We travel about every 4-6 weeks to some campground and it has been a big de-stresser for us - especially my husband and I. Most campgrounds have little to no internet or cell capabilities - and that's GOOD! It has caused us to put down the technology and just relaxed and enjoy one another. Now, let me talk about something else I love - organizing and decorating - and in this case, debrassification. Yes, that's my word and I made it up but I bet you know what it means!
And...I'm going to share how I changed the shower doors from brass to oil rubbed bronze!

Hide that Ugly Thing
Am I the only one who finds some technology offensively ugly? I mean, the cables, the cords, the antennas, the routers, the boxes? Uggh, it's just ugly! In our family room, we have this router that has to be there. I know, it's something that just comes from technology so I try to embrace it and know it's here to stay.

Teen Boys Bedroom Final Reveal
My sixteen year old son likes a few of things - golf {among many sports}, Star Wars, and Legos. For a teenage boy to be excited about his room decor is no small feat! I think I accomplished it! You might remember how I have been slowly getting his room made over - first, the wallpapered wall to look like planked wood, then the desktop made from laminate flooring. Last was this project - industrial shelving!

How to Fake a Plank Wall: Teen Boys Room Update
While I've been compensated by Walls Republic, opinions are 100% mine!
Our 16 year old son is getting a makeover on his room. The last time we painted his room he was 8, so it's long overdue! I suggested an "industrial look to him" and showed him pictures and he was all for it. Along with this look is the fun planked wall look and I wanted that for his room, but I did NOT want to do that much work. Thanks to wallpaper, I was able to fake it in under 2 hours!
You may remember that we made him a really unique, large desktop with laminate flooring, just a couple of weeks ago. So, now I was ready to work on his big red wall. Check out this before and after below! You're going to want to pin this post -- it's that good!

Boy's Room Update: Easy Desktop Tutorial
I have been compensated and provided materials to share this fun project!
While I've been compensated, opinions are 100% mine!
While I've been compensated, opinions are 100% mine!
I shared a few weeks ago how our teenage son is turning 16 and so it was time to give him a little update in his room. I proposed this to him and he seemed very happy with "Mom's ideas" -- he really doesn't care too much about what his room looks like but is ready to let his red wall go....however, I'm doing one thing at a time.

Time for an Update: Teen Boy Room
As with everything in this house, after a few years I'm ready to redo a room again. Maybe it's the ADD in me or maybe I just love to change things up. Nonetheless, I've noticed my son's room is ready for an update. The last time I did something in there, he was in elementary school and he's turning 16 in a few weeks and I'd like to give him a more updated, grown up look in there.

Our Cute Playhouse Updated for a Tween
Our backyard has been so much fun to have and use for all kinds of things - including entertaining of adults and kids. We recently got rid of our kids swingset, since they are now {almost} 16 and 11 1/2. They really didn't play on it anymore and we have a big RV parking pad there now! But, we DID keep the cute, little playhouse. I plan on keeping that around awhile. It's had a hard year, what with all the kids and people over that it sits under two large avocado trees that think it's fall in the summer and shed leaves all summer long...among other stuff. We never really finished the floor well when we made it over a few years ago. It shows!
Well, I came up with a {cheap} idea to keep the inside a little cleaner and found another cheap way to make the floors look amazing.

Tiling the Kitchen - an RV update
If you haven't figured it out by now, I love a good project. Our "new to us" RV has been a lot of fun for me and it's brought up a lot of ways for me to really get creative. Why in the world would I take a perfectly nice looking RV and make all these changes? Well, we are using our RV for more than just our vacations - it's become our guest house now, too. So, the first thing I worked on was the kitchen!
Here is what the kitchen looked like when we bought the RV just a couple of months ago. It's perfectly nice and simple. There isn't anything wrong with it - I just don't care for the splotchy "sponge paint" wallpaper and border wallpaper look. And, here is what it looks like now.

This home office is done! It is amazing! I absolutely love it and I know you will too! Let me start with how my office looked before -- which, by the way, was pretty nice before in my opinion. I just needed more function for it. Last week I showed you a few of the pieces and things happening to get it into shape!

Simple and Easy Jewelry Organizer
I have had this problem with my jewelry for the last 12+ months. I've started purchasing the chunky, colorful necklaces to wear with my outfits - from Groopdealz, Zulilly, Forever 21, and other places for cheap! I love them because it adds personality and pizzaz to my outfits. But, they just don't fit in my current jewelry organizer very well. See? I can hardly close the door on it. I've been wracking my brain trying to come up with a solution, and I finally found it!
