So I told you last week about getting our ceilings scraped! It looks amazing! But, now I had to paint them....and I had to do it before Christmas with a house full of decorations because my parents are coming for Christmas and Dad & hubby will be putting in pot/can lights and this needed to be done ASAP!
1. Be sure to have the right supplies when painting your ceiling.
2. In a large room, getting a five gallon bucket and putting the primer in will definitely help.
3. Cover EVERYTHING. When you first prime your ceiling, keep in mind that primer is very thin....much thinner than paint.
4. I heavily discouraged painting your ceiling at Christmas-time...
5. Did I mention you need to cover EVERYTHING in plastic? Having a light to light up the room {so you can paint ALL day and ALL night}.
6. When looking up, expect to have primer fly all over the place - everywhere! Snicker, snicker!
7. I do not recommend that you put sheets on your floor. The paint goes right through them...sigh!
8. Be sure to wear your paint clothes...I also recommend wearing a hat or shower cap because you WILL be getting paint in your hair!
9. Did I mention that you need to cover up everything?
10. Cause it will get on everything, everywhere!
I can laugh about it now. It took me all day {and most of the evening} to put on a coat of primer and one coat of paint. You really can't even tell I painted it, but it's painted. It's a couple of shades lighter than the wall color. What's not funny is that I'm going to have to do this again to nine more rooms....aaawww, the fun part of having the ceilings scraped! I am especially glad I hired someone to scrape and skim the ceilings {not to mention they sanded them twice}. I couldn't imagine scraping, sanding, priming, painting...all on my own. So, this is really the easy part!
Well, the result is that our ceilings look amazing! Having the acoustic scraped off makes them appear taller and they are SO smooth! They look incredible!
