Today is Day #23 of 31 days of spontaneous organizing! Your mini-challenge for today is a shelf in your kitchen pantry. If you have a large pantry, like I do, two shelves would be best.
Here are a couple of ideas and tips for when you organize your kitchen pantry. Don't do the whole thing today -- just one or two shelves because you don't want to spend more than 15 minutes. Take things off the one or two shelves you are going to organize. Check for expired food or food you don't think you'll want - donate the canned food that you can to a local organization that feeds hungry. Wipe down shelves.
Group items together - making zones. Here is a "sneak peek" of my pantry I've been doing lately {I will post a full version next month}. You can do something similar by using cardboard boxes and covering in pretty paper. Having a container to organize smaller things helps a lot.
I used my girlfriend's pantry, above, for an example of how to get started with organizing - go HERE to see more specifics on that. We used containers to organize her pantry that she already had around her house. We didn't spend a dime.
If you can use clear jars - if you have some large spaghetti sauce-type jars or mason jars laying around - use clear containers whenever you can. They really DO help you to have more space. I've had many ask about not having the box and directions to make. For my pasta, I just label and put how long it needs to cook, as you can see above. If it's more specific directions, I'll cut those out and place under the lid of the clear jar and it works fine. All the boxes take up a lot more space.
