With Fall here and Christmas around the corner, you may be like me and like to hang a wreath on your door as a welcome to your incoming friends and visitors. You may also be like me and have trouble finding a way to hang it without messing up the door. So, I've come up with a cheap and super quick way of hanging the wreath on the door.
We have a steel front door, so hanging things on it can be tricky. I bought this great magnetic hook on Amazon and it can hold a ton of weight. But, it left marks on my pretty yellow door if I tried to move it around. I've used command hooks, and they are OK. If it gets super cold or if the wreath is just too heavy, it won't work. Those over the door wreath hangers? My door won't even close with those - I've tried all kinds of sizes!
So, I use my magnetic hook on the BACK of the door with some plastic wrap between the door and the hook {hung upside down} to keep it from marking up the door. Then, I use fishing line {or clear heavy weight thread} to hook the wreath around and tie to the magnetic hook. If your door isn't steel, you could use a heavy duty command hook and it should stay much better than on the front of the door.
And, if you're wondering how durable it is, well I can tell you that my 16 year old is not soft about closing the front door - and it has withstood all that and hasn't been bothered! Also, once I put the fishing line on it, I keep it on for the next year and just put it back up using the same fishing line again and again for the last few years. I actually plan to try this out on our RV in the backyard when we have visitors come over {I won't be leaving it on when we drive, just so you know!}. How do you hang a wreath on your front door?
