Spring Cleaning :: Cleaning Make-up Brushes

Cleaning is not my favorite thing, but is a necessary evil! Ha! some of you LOVE to clean - just like I LOVE to organize. So, I have done my best to try and embrace something I'm not crazy about doing, but doing it in a way that is fun for me. I'm not hugely into "spring cleaning" - quite honestly, we live in Southern California where most of the year is spring-like and this year we pretty much skipped winter - but I try to clean things as needed year round.

However, there are things that need to be cleaned on a regular basis and I have set out to make sure I do that in an all-natural {no bleach, no chemical} way. So, today I'm showing you how I clean make up brushes. It's not hard, but necessary. I use the powdered make up and LOVE it...even though it's a little messy. It's perfect for me, but the brushes need some TLC and clean out any bacteria that could build up on them.

It's very easy. I mixed a teaspoon of olive oil and a tablespoon of castille soap in a bowl with warm water. The olive oil will help the brushes to not dry out.

I dipped each brush in, then rinsed under the faucet and wrung it out. I fluffed it and then hung them upside down to dry.

Lay smaller brushes flat to dry :: OrganizingMadeFun.com

The smaller brushes I did the same, but I laid them flat on a paper towel to dry.
