Growing up in Northern California, I remember many nights eating outside on the deck that my dad built, especially in spring and summer. It was one of my favorite things to do - to eat outside. There is something so special about being outside in the evening, just enjoying family. I've now lived in Southern California since I went to college and then married my college sweetheart, who grew up here, for almost 25 years. When we bought this particular house in 2006, it was special to us right from the start. My husband envisioned a deck right outside...
...and he had a really great vision. Three years after he started the deck, it was complete. Later we had a local contractor design and build our outdoor patio cover {HUGE project}. People come over and remark that our deck and outdoor kitchen are another room. It's true. It's our dining room and entertaining area. We hardly ever entertain INSIDE our home.
Well, I found this GREAT idea while browsing through Ballard Designs Catalog {above}...I was probably asking for trouble, but I loved the mirror over the outdoor fireplace and thought I could easily replicate it for bit less money.
I picked my round mirror up at Home Goods and spray painted it silver so it would "pop" out from the black steel beams.
I LOVE how the fireplace transitions from day to night. It's a great place for us to sit outside and spend time together.
The mirror is a nice addition over the fireplace and helps to reflect light! What do you think?
