Spring Cleaning the Easy Way

The Spring Cleaning Tips are all mine!

Spring Cleaning is one of those phrases that I tend to avoid. Well, cleaning is something I tend to avoid but spring cleaning seems sort of like a phrase that everyone is supposed to just do and that's that! If you've ever been in a "spring cleaning" kind of mood, it's your chance to really open your eyes and see your home in a fresh, new way!

I'd also like to note that a wonderful part of spring "cleaning" can and should include spring decluttering! When you start to look around your home, move things to clean behind, or open the blinds you may notice more than just dust and dirt.

How Decluttering Can Pay Off, Literally!

Lately, I have been hit by the decluttering bug. And by hit, I mean HIT hard. I am pretty good about decluttering, honestly, but about once or twice a year I just start to go a little nuts around the house. Just ask my husband! What I do is I imagine that we are going to be moving across the country! I give myself a deadline - say 2 months - and I start going room by room through every closet, cupboard and shelf! I think about whether I've used the item in the last six months, or even a year. Why am I keeping it?

Bathroom Cleaning Essentials

Of course, the one bathroom cleaning product I can't live without is Mrs. Meyer's tub & tile cleaner. I used to hate cleaning our tub and shower because the fumes from traditional cleaners always gave me a headache. At the same time, I'm not a fan of scrubbing, so I need a cleaner that really works. Mrs. Meyer’s tub & tile checks all the boxes! It works so well on our hard water buildup, plus it smells amazing.

Paired with effective natural cleaners, the right tools are a game changer for your bathroom cleaning. I never thought of sponges as a bathroom cleaning necessity until I started using these Grove Collaborative walnut scrubber sponges. The scouring side is made from crushed walnuts and is great for cleaning grout, while the soft side is perfect for wiping down sinks and shower glass. I always keep a couple of these in my cleaning kit.

Essential Kitchen Cleaning

Essential Kitchen Cleaning

I LOVE my new kitchen, but I'm going to be completely honest, it's more work to keep this kitchen clean than my old kitchen! I think it's a combo of surfaces that need cleaning, new pots and pans with different care, and the fact that I actually care that it looks spotless most of the time!

Quick Tip: Cleaning Cast Iron and More

One of my recent discoveries in the kitchen has been cast iron. I have found that cast iron is probably the longest lasting and most efficient types of pans to cook with. Cleaning cast iron can be tricky, as you can't just throw it into the dishwasher or let it soak in the sick since it will easily rust.

Why I'm Fake and Lazy!

I recently read this quote from Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, "I choose a lazy person to do a hard job because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it". This quote is so interesting to me. While I don't feel I'm "lazy", I do feel like I'm always looking for an easier way to do things - faking them! I'm also the type of person who is artistic, but I'm definitely NOT an artist! So, this may describe much of what I do with organizing, cleaning, and decorating -  faking it and lazy! But, I'm the type of person who is going to find the easiest and best way to do something. So, is this a bad quality?

How to Clean Your House Without Chemicals + Save Money!

One of my "things" is that I like natural, green living - holistic things, really anything that is as back to nature as it can be. I really love finding products that live up to my {non-chemical} standards, and especially for cleaning. Don't you? The chemicals from some products are enough to really cause a lot of harm in your home and to your family or pets {who are family, too}. We have found that by removing those things in our home - our health has improved, especially the allergy problems.

So, when I see a good deal on products that live up to this standard, I like to share it! One of my favorite places to find those products is ePantry. I have a really special offer from ePantry for some seasonal Mrs. Meyers products that will sell out FAST, so you have to get these quickly! I personally use Mrs. Meyers daily in my home - and my RV!
