I Need Help Desperately!

Yes, it's true! I need help - desperately. I know that I'm totally inept in a lot of areas. You see, nearly six years ago I decided I needed to start a blog about organizing. Why organizing? Well, at the time, there weren't a lot of blogs about organizing. I liked to organize and thought it was fun. Many of my friends would come to me and ask my advice about how to get certain areas organized in their home and how to get their kids to organize and how to be scheduled! So, I thought I'd start a blog for my friends to refer to so they could look up ideas. I had NO idea it would turn into a full time business! Honestly, I didn't. I didn't make a dime for over a year and a half. I had a few posts start going viral - my 15 minute a day cleanng schedule {which remains my TOP post for the past six years} and my series "31 Days to Cheaply Organize Your Home" absolutely took off and started blogging "full time". But, I am NOT all that smart when it comes to all things blogging. So, each year I attend a conference where I learn more about this stuff! I want to share, first, how I pack for my conference because it might surprise you!

Here is my suitcase above. As you can see it's full.

Anatomy of a conference suitcase - pack a suitcase within a suitcase :: OrganizingMadeFun.com

I packed a small carry-on suitcase within my oversized suitcase. I packed food for myself {I eat Paleo so it's hard to find good food when I'm not near my home} inside the small carry on suitcase. It's hard shell is perfect to protect the food I brought. It's wonderful attending a conference, like I did in Salt Lake City for SNAP, because the sponsors send home so many wonderful things with us. I LOVE my packing cubes to keep all the smaller clothing organized and highly recommend everyone grab a set

The after-conference packing looks like this. I filled up the carry on suitcase completely. I saved all the liquid and larger items for my oversized suitcase that I checked.

And, hello? This was my favorite thing I got at the conference...that is now in my preteen daughter's hands! This is an Instax camera {from Fuji} and a Heidi Swapp camera strap. Remember Polaroid cameras? Well, this is the modern version!

OK, so back to my original thoughts above...I need help, desperately! Blogging has changed SO much in the six years that I've been doing it. So, every year I attend this conference, I come away with SO much more than I expected. I meet with other bloggers and "talk shop" in the beautiful Salt Lake City setting.

My hope is to improve, reach more people, and not spend my whole time working! My motto is: Work Smarter, Not Harder!

  1. I would love to see a post or two on being organized for when you're a work at home mom... prepping meals ahead of time, scheduling, being flexible, and the like...I have a unique situation where I go to work with my husband and our three young kiddos. We help him as needed but hang out in an empty apartment and work on school. Sometimes at the end of the day I feel as though I'm organizing and cleaning two homes instead of one... while helping in an office space and an online business. Also - feeling as though I'm a bid ADHD when doing things - I do so much better when planning for a week or two weeks at a time. How often do you plan... Daily, Weekly, Monthly..? And what do those times look like?
