Traveling and Organizing Essential Oils

I'm sure that many of you have been busy traveling this summer. I like to travel to an extent but, admittedly, am a homebody! I'm also an avid essential oils user and have found that traveling with my oils is beneficial and necessary. I get asked often how to travel with them and organize them for the trip. So today I'm going to share with you how I travel both in the car or on airplane with them, plus I'm going to share my EIGHT most important oils to travel with!

The truth is, traveling is hard on your body. I have found that having my essential oils with me is so helpful! I am calmer, more relaxed and, when I get things organized, I'm able to anticipate the things that may come up. Here are the 8 most important essential oils to have when traveling, in my humble opinion. I'm sure there's tons more but if you had to have some, these are my picks!

1. Grounding Blend - Diffuse in car or apply on yourself to keep you and the family calm and soothed. This oil helps with overly busy, hyperactivity, and nervousness, too!

2. Peppermint - Put a couple of drops in the palm of your hand, rub hands together, and inhale.

3. Calming Blend - My favorite oil to smell. This oil can help you with the nervousness of an airplane flight, along with Balance is a great combo for staying calm and free of stress. Reduces stress, calming, helps with restfulness, and more.

4. Digestive Blend - Apply a couple of drops on your tummy when it's upset. Invariably you'll not be eating as well as usual and will likely need something for an upset tummy. Also, helps with indigestion, congestion, constipation, motion sickness, nausea, and more!

5. Tension Blend - Sitting on an airplane in a weird position or in a car too long, you'll likely have soar muscles. Apply this roller blend on the spot that is bothering you and it will relieve your achey muscles. This also helps with headaches.

6. Joyful Blend - Need some joy? Getting grumpy waiting for things to happen on vacation while traveling to your destination? Apply a few drops on your wrists or chest and this will uplift your mood immediately. I put this on all the time. It's such a great boost for my mood.

7. Lavender - This oil is the best for first aid. Itchy skin, sunburns, bug bites? Lavender is great for relieving all kinds of skin problems. Also, if you're having trouble sleeping, take a few drops and apply to the bottoms of your feet.

8. Protective Blend - It helps protect you when traveling. Put a couple drops on your feet.

How to organize essential oils for travel AND how to get through security with them :: OrganizingMadeFun.com

When traveling with oils, I keep my oils in a travel bag that I pack in my suitcase, as you see above. I screw on the lids real tight, then get a large gallon-sized ziptop bag to put it in for my suitcase. I've never had a problem doing it this way - never leaked or broken. You can find one of these essential oil travel bags HERE. The oils are all less than 3 ounces and are fine to take through security screening at the airport, per FSA rules, so long as you put them in a clear, ziptop bag.

The other thing I do is that take more oils on the plane WITH me because I often find I need them during my flight. These oils are the ones I carry with me in my purse everyday. I have glass roller containers that I add about 15-20 drops of essential oils and fill the rest with FCO {fractionated coconut oil} and it's a great way to get your EOs to stretch further and also have them on the go. Have you ever travelled with essential oils? What's your best way to organize them?

*Fractionated Coconut Oil is a carrier oil.
