31 Days of Spontaneous Organizing - Day #19: Entry or coat closet

Today is Day #19 of 31 days of spontaneous organizing! Your mini-challenge for today is your entry, mudroom, or foyer -- or wherever you plop your stuff down when you come in!

Here are a couple of ideas and tips for when you organize your entry area: First off, know that if you have had a problem with it for years, that it may take more than this fifteen minutes to do something drastic. So, for now, your goal is to work on it to clean up clutter and trash and nonsense that's in there. I'll give you some inspiration here and some practical ideas to get it organized quickly.

I currently use this as our landing zone - it's an old dresser. If you have something in your entry that is like this or can move one in there, it's really a great idea! It has made a world of difference.

Our "entry" room is actually not right inside the front door, but the back door. We call it our music room because I teach piano lessons in there, but inside the back door I have a bench and hooks for the kids things.

I think hooks are hugely important in an entry way - even if you lack a coat closet, like I do. But to use them inside the coat closet, like above, on the back of the door is such a great idea -- makes me really wish I had a coat closet!!

Even a small entry has hooks and a small bench and a crate to put shoes into.

I just love using the back of the door so much that I had to share another one with you!
