It.Is.Done!!!! Yay, my front yard make-over is done! I can't believe it and it's so amazing to think that my yard went from this {where I left you last time}....
So, I go on Pinterest and see these amazing large letters with big, bright lights in them. I don't know why, but I have been totally drawn to them. They look fun and I LOVE personalized stuff - like initials and such. I have them all over my house - just ask my friends! I found that there were a few tutorials on how to make them and I told my husband that I was SURE this would be seriously easy by doing a little of this and a little of that and we'd have this thing done! He actually liked my idea of the marquee, which usually takes me some convincing whenever we have a project that I dream up. Well, last week...
Our son is officially in 8th grade and he "officially" is a golf fanatic! Many of you know that our son has autism, but most of the team sports he would play would be difficult for him. We introduced him to golf several years ago and it seems to be "his" thing! He's good at it and it's a lifelong skill he can master. The bonus? My hubby plays a LOT of golf.
I always want to share stuff we do around the house, whether it's building a deck and outdoor kitchen or planting some succulents! But, I also wanted to share a little experiment I recently did to try and combat the weeds around our house.
I wish you all knew my kids and could see how they have such wonderful personalities! But, that's not possible! The best idea you get is seeing the things we do around here with the kids' rooms. My daughter has this wonderful, sparkly personality. Her room was a joy to re-decorate this past January. It reflects a lot of her personality!

Last month I told you that we were doing all kinds of projects, but we would be tackling one during Christmas - yes, DURING! We have installed engineered hard wood flooring in our back entrance {we call it "the music room" since it's where I teach my piano lessons}.
My sweet little girl is growing up! We moved into this house and she was just 2 1/2 years old and she wanted PINK as her room color! Well, she's turning 9 next week and she's no longer happy with her pink room.
We have been working on the curb appeal of our home for just about a year now! Last year we painted the house - and boy is it a fun color - added new windows, new roof, put on a large patio cover on our deck. The only thing we had left was solar panels. We found out, from our contractor/builder, that if we put solar panels on our home the same year as we put a new roof on, we could get an approximate 25% tax write off on the roof. We are purchasing our panels {versus leasing them} and will have a return on investment {ROI} in six years or less.
We have been busy, as I told you last week. Our kids bathroom is nearly done -- just have a few finishing touches -- and then I can show you! But, we got new flooring put in! Flooring is fun, but will turn your house upside down!
Just because life can't get more complicated than doing construction and DIY around Christmas time, we are doing it! I suppose the goal is to have it done so when everyone is over here for Christmas parties and what-not, that it's nicer.
My home was built in the 1940s, and because of this, I believe I have a soft spot for all things vintage! I also love having a vanity. My former vanity has done well for years. But, it's small and I wanted something more, after seeing one in an antique shop a couple of months ago. But, I just wasn't willing to pay the price that they wanted for theirs.
Being a work at home mom {WAHM} I walk passed things in my home 100 times a day {or so it seems like it}. I begin noticing things when I'm looking at them...the floors are coming up. Not too hard to notice when I trip over them!
